Beauty brand Sol de Janeiro has appointed former Nielsen and Verisk executive Laurie Lovett as its new Chief People & Impact Officer as the company pushes forward with global expansion plans following its recent achievement of reaching $1 billion in revenue.

Lovett, who brings over two decades of human resources leadership experience, will oversee human resources, social impact and ESG initiatives at the Brazilian-inspired beauty company, reporting directly to CEO Heela Yang.

“Sol de Janeiro was built on the belief that connection is powerful, and people are everything,” Yang said.

During her career, Lovett served as Global Chief People Officer at both Nielsen and Verisk after spending 20 years at Accenture. She currently serves as an Independent Director at West Monroe, where she chairs the Compensation and Talent Committee.

Lovett’s appointment comes alongside the hiring of Elaine Paik as Chief Financial Officer, with both executives joining at a critical juncture as the New York-based company expands its international presence. The company currently sells its products in more than 35 countries.

The executive appointments reflect Sol de Janeiro’s emphasis on building organizational capability to support its rapid growth trajectory, particularly in international markets.

With Lovett’s appointment, the company aims to strengthen its talent management approach while developing more robust social impact programs, according to the announcement released Thursday.

The additions bring the company’s C-suite to 71% female representation, aligning with what the company describes as its commitment to building leadership that reflects its diverse customer base.

Founded in 2015, Sol de Janeiro has become known for its body care products and fragrances, particularly its Cheirosa Perfume Mist line, which has gained significant popularity on social media platforms.
