Workers using Payactiv to access their earned wages can now receive their funds in real time through popular digital wallets Venmo and PayPal, following a new integration with Visa+ announced Tuesday.
The update is aimed at giving employees more flexible and secure access to their pay, without requiring them to share bank account or debit card information.
“Financial security is the foundation for meaningful growth, both at work and in life,” said Safwan Shah, founder and CEO of Payactiv. “Our integration with Visa+ empowers employees to access their money on their terms, enhancing financial control and freedom.”
Focus on flexibility and retention
Earned Wage Access (EWA) allows employees to tap into wages they’ve already earned before payday. For employers, the benefit has become an increasingly common retention and engagement tool, particularly in industries with high turnover and hourly workforces.
“Our workforce values flexibility and convenience, and with Payactiv’s Visa+ integration, our employees now have real-time access to their earned wages through familiar platforms like Venmo and PayPal,” said Steve Boyd, senior director of HRIS at American Senior Communities. “This empowers them to manage their finances on their terms, which ultimately boosts employee satisfaction and retention.”
Streamlined digital payments
The Visa+ functionality enables U.S.-based workers to create simple aliases linked to their digital wallets to receive earned wages. For example, a user might use “+JohnSmith.PayPal” or “+JohnSmith.Venmo” to direct funds to the correct account.
Payactiv said this method streamlines access and enhances security by eliminating the need to disclose traditional banking details.
Growing demand for earned wage access
The integration comes as more employers look to address financial wellness through payroll innovation. Payactiv, a certified B Corporation, says it now serves more than 20,000 businesses and offers five fee-free options for earned wage disbursement.
By expanding its offerings to include Visa+, Payactiv is positioning itself to meet growing employee expectations around speed, convenience, and autonomy in how wages are accessed.
