A Virginia-based technology talent provider has created a new program aimed at helping federal employees and government contractors who have lost their jobs due to program cuts.
Revature announced Wednesday the launch of its Displaced Federal and Government Worker Talent Program, which provides free training in technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and cybersecurity.
“Government professionals bring a level of discipline, adaptability and problem-solving that’s hard to teach,” said John Dow, senior vice president and Federal and Public Sector lead at Revature.
The Reston-based company said the program aims to create benefits for both the workers and potential employers by providing participants with skills that match current industry needs.
Training includes both technical skills and professional development at no cost to either participants or hiring organizations, according to the company.
Revature plans to participate in upcoming job fairs focused on supporting displaced government workers, including an event sponsored by Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and the State of Virginia.
The Virginia Career Works Northern Regional Job Fair will be held May 9 at the Fairfax County Government Center.
The initiative comes as government agencies face budget constraints and program reductions, creating a pool of experienced professionals seeking new career opportunities.
Revature’s program specifically targets transitioning these workers into tech roles by building upon their existing professional experience while adding specialized technical training.
