Nonprofit organization Frontline Builders has partnered with over 250 mayors and county officials across the United States to designate May as “Frontline Workers Appreciation Month,” recognizing healthcare workers, first responders and educators nationwide.

The initiative comes more than five years after Americans showed their gratitude to healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Frontline Builders is coordinating donation efforts in ten major cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Austin, to provide frontline workers with food, beverages and personal care items valued at approximately $500,000.

“This month serves as a crucial reminder for just how vital these dedicated heroes are to the fabric of our communities and our country,” said Kirk Watson, mayor of Austin, Texas. “Our communities simply couldn’t function without them and they deserve our recognition and thanks every day.”

Since its founding in 2020, Frontline Builders has donated over 22 million products to more than 1,400 frontline institutions across the country. The organization partners with companies to provide essential workers with donated goods as a form of appreciation and support.

For the May initiative, participating donor companies include KIND Snacks, Glossier, Harry’s and several other consumer goods brands.

“This official recognition for our frontline heroes is long overdue,” said Jason Lalak, director of Frontline Builders. “These selfless Americans consistently put aside their own needs to put their communities first, showing up for us and our families when we need it most.”

According to the organization, frontline workers represent approximately 70% of the U.S. workforce. Studies show that recognition programs for these essential employees can improve job satisfaction and retention rates while strengthening community support.

The nonprofit was launched in 2020 by Daniel Lubetzky, founder of KIND Snacks, and operates as a partner of the Builders Movement, which focuses on overcoming societal divisions through collaborative problem-solving.
