Engineering and consulting firm Michael Baker International has appointed Tanya Currie as executive vice president and chief human resources officer, adding her to the company’s executive leadership team to lead organizational transformation efforts.
Currie will head the human resources organization and focus on implementing cultural changes as the Pittsburgh-based firm works toward its goal of becoming a full-service engineering, consulting and advisory company.
Focus on talent development and retention
In her new role, Currie will enhance the firm’s compensation strategy and benefits programs while leading employee development initiatives through talent reviews and succession planning. She will also work to attract top talent and expand the role of HR business partners to improve employee retention and career advancement opportunities.
“Tanya is a dynamic and experienced leader who truly understands our industry and how to create programs that put employees first while keeping our business goals in focus,” said Brian A. Lutes, CEO at Michael Baker International.
Lutes said Currie will help shape the employee experience and strengthen the company’s culture while using digital tools to improve efficiency.
Extensive infrastructure industry experience
Currie brings more than 25 years of HR experience in the global infrastructure industry to her leadership position. She joins Michael Baker from AECOM, where she most recently served as global head of HR business partners and talent acquisition.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a learning and growth associate with Deloitte. Currie earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a minor in business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada.
