Caterpillar Inc. has appointed Christy Pambianchi as chief human resources officer, effective May 1, the company announced Thursday. She will join the company’s executive office and succeed Cheryl H. Johnson, who is retiring.
Pambianchi brings nearly two decades of experience in senior HR roles across multiple industries. Most recently, she served as chief people officer at Intel, overseeing human resources, corporate real estate, corporate social responsibility, and transformation initiatives.
“Christy is an experienced executive with strong credentials and a history of demonstrated success,” said Jim Umpleby, Caterpillar chairman and CEO. “Our people are a source of innovation and competitive advantage, and we must continue to attract and retain the best talent to serve our customers.”
Before her time at Intel, Pambianchi held top HR positions at Verizon and Corning, with responsibilities that included information technology and organizational strategy. She began her career at PepsiCo and has served on several boards focused on advancing the HR profession.
Pambianchi holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources and currently serves on its board.
Her appointment comes as Caterpillar continues to prioritize talent development and employee engagement as part of its broader growth strategy. The company reported $64.8 billion in revenue in 2024 and operates globally in construction, mining, energy, and transportation sectors.
