The construction industry will mark its annual Safety Week from May 5 to 9 with a renewed focus on collective responsibility under the theme “All in Together,” organizers announced Monday.
Held across the U.S. and Canada, Construction Safety Week encourages companies to engage workers in safety-focused activities and reaffirm their commitment to jobsite health and wellness. The initiative coincides with a continued partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and its National Safety Stand-down campaign to prevent falls, a leading cause of workplace injuries in construction.
A major feature of the campaign is an industry-wide safety stand-down scheduled for Wednesday, May 7. Companies are encouraged to pause work and lead safety discussions with their teams. Organizers said the goal is to facilitate the largest safety stand-down ever conducted in the industry.
“For more than a decade, Construction Safety Week has been a driving force in strengthening the industry’s commitment to safety,” said Mike Choutka, CEO of Hensel Phelps and chair of the 2025 Safety Week. “This year, our theme, All in Together, demonstrates that safety on a jobsite is more than an individual responsibility; it’s a collective effort.”
Focus on planning, ownership, and commitment
The 2025 campaign centers around three pillars: plan, own and commit. These elements are intended to guide companies as they organize discussions, demonstrations, and other activities throughout the week. Free resources—including promotional materials, translated content, and ideas for family engagement—are available online to support participation.
“By planning, owning, and committing to safety, we ensure that every worker goes home safe at the end of the day,” Choutka said.
In the lead-up to Safety Week, companies and workers are invited to join the “Our Plan, My Part Giveaway,” which runs from April 7 to May 8. Participants are asked to share how they demonstrate safety commitment in the workplace, with a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. Weekly and daily check-ins are encouraged, and live participation data will be posted on the Construction Safety Week website.
Widespread industry backing
Construction Safety Week is supported by more than 70 contractors and numerous industry associations. Major participating firms include Turner Construction, Skanska, Gilbane Building Company, and PCL Construction. Sponsors include the Associated General Contractors of America, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and CNA Insurance.
Launched by the Construction Industry Safety Initiative and the Incident & Injury Free Executive Forum, Safety Week aims to promote a culture of safety through shared best practices, tools, and on-site engagement.
