Progressive Insurance plans to hire over 12,000 workers this year to support ongoing business expansion, with positions available across multiple departments and flexible work arrangements.
The Mayfield Village, Ohio-based insurer, now the second-largest auto insurance provider in the U.S., has experienced consistent growth in policies and premiums over the past decade. In 2024, Progressive added more than five million policies and increased net premiums written by 21% to $74.4 billion, according to company figures.
“Progressive continues to prove that our culture is not defined or limited by our physical spaces. By having a flexible workplace approach it not only allows us to meet the needs of our current employees, but to also reach job seekers where they are,” said Neil Lenane, Progressive’s Business Leader of Talent Acquisition.
The company’s hiring push comes as it added 1.3 million new policies during the first quarter of 2025. Progressive currently employs more than 66,000 people and recently ranked 16th on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list, marking its eighth consecutive year on the ranking.
Most of the new positions will be in claims and customer service departments, reflecting the company’s expanding customer base. Available positions include entry-level roles such as claims adjuster trainee and a new field adjuster trainee position.
The insurer is also seeking to fill various roles in its legal department, including defense attorney positions in California, Georgia, New York, Florida and Texas.
Progressive is promoting its internal career development program, recently launching an employer brand campaign called “Destination: Progress” to highlight advancement opportunities within the company. The initiative includes an internal career development hub with leadership training, mentorship opportunities and learning plans.
In a recent Gallup Engagement and Culture survey, Progressive scored in the 98th percentile among measured U.S. companies based on employee feedback, the company reported.
Founded in 1937, Progressive has steadily expanded beyond its auto insurance roots and now also provides coverage for commercial vehicles, motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles and homes.
