SHRM will host a two-day, in-person conference in April focused on how organizations can integrate artificial and human intelligence to transform workplace performance, as HR leaders face increasing pressure to adapt to rapid advancements in AI technology.
The event, The AI+HI Project 2025, will take place April 9–10 at the Fairmont San Francisco and is designed to help HR professionals and business leaders understand the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and human expertise.
“Artificial intelligence isn’t here to replace human intelligence — it’s here to amplify it,” said Alex Alonso, SHRM’s chief data and analytics officer. “Instead of choosing between AI and human intelligence, the key here is learning how to integrate both to unlock new levels of performance and workplace transformation.”
The conference will feature sessions on AI’s impact on the workforce, ethical implementation of AI tools, and how HR can shape its role in technology adoption. Highlights include a debate on HR’s role in AI integration, a fireside chat with Erik Brynjolfsson of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI and SHRM president Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., and a discussion on workplace culture featuring Bloomberg Beta’s Roy Bahat and Washington Post journalist Danielle Abril.
Organizers say the AI+HI Project will move beyond theoretical frameworks to focus on practical strategies for embedding AI tools into business operations while maintaining a people-centered approach. Topics will include maximizing return on AI investments, addressing the human impact of automation, and promoting responsible innovation.
The conference is in-person only.
