U.S.-based health and care workers exploring overseas employment opportunities may find a viable route through the United Kingdom’s Health and Care visa, according to a UK immigration law firm.
A Y & J Solicitors, which specializes in immigration matters, said the visa program remains open and accessible despite broader global trends toward stricter migration policies.
“In the UK, there is a growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals, and visa policies have been designed to facilitate their entry,” said Yash Dubal, founder of A Y & J Solicitors.
The Health and Care visa, a subcategory of the UK’s Skilled Worker visa, is intended for professionals such as doctors, registered nurses, adult social care workers and pharmacists. It includes benefits such as reduced fees, a fast-tracked application process, and exemption from the Immigration Health Surcharge.
The program also provides a pathway to permanent settlement for eligible applicants and requires sponsorship by licensed UK employers.
The U.S. healthcare industry employs approximately 17 million workers. A significant number may meet the qualifications needed to apply, Dubal said.
“While immigration restrictions have been tightened across the world to reduce migration levels, the route to legal work in the UK for health and care workers remains open,” he said.
