Former President Joe Biden will speak at the Society for Human Resource Management’s annual conference next month, discussing leadership and workforce changes with thousands of HR professionals.

Biden will take the main stage at SHRM25 on July 2 in San Diego for what organizers call an exclusive conversation on leadership, workforce transformation and the future of work. The conference runs from June 29 through July 2, with both in-person and virtual attendance options.

The 46th president will share his perspective as a world leader and his commitment to remain a voice for Americans after leaving office, according to SHRM. Two other former presidents, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, have served as keynote speakers at previous SHRM conferences.

Political career spans decades

Biden began his political career at 29 when he became one of the youngest Americans elected to the U.S. Senate, representing Delaware for 36 years. During his Senate tenure, he played a leading role in domestic and international challenges and wrote the Violence Against Women Act.

As the 47th vice president under Barack Obama, Biden helped secure passage of the Affordable Care Act and oversaw what was then the largest economic recovery plan in U.S. history. After taking office as president in 2021, he signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.

His administration’s policies shifted HR focus toward a more proactive approach to employee rights, wellbeing and creating inclusive workplaces, according to SHRM.

Conference focuses on workplace evolution

“SHRM is honored to welcome President Joe Biden to the SHRM25 Main Stage at such a critical time for the world of work. As workplaces continue to evolve in response to economic shifts, AI advancements, and workforce transformation, his perspective as a global leader will add valuable insight to our ongoing dialogue,” said Johnny C. Taylor Jr., SHRM president and CEO.

Taylor added that SHRM remains committed to providing HR professionals with knowledge and resources to shape inclusive, forward-thinking workplaces.

Biden will join hundreds of other speakers at the conference who will discuss workplace best practices, share new data on AI advancements and explore trends supporting healthier workplace cultures.

SHRM describes itself as a member-driven organization focused on creating better workplaces where people and businesses succeed together. The group has nearly 340,000 members in 180 countries and says it touches the lives of more than 362 million workers and their families worldwide.
