Pivot Bio has promoted Laureen Thompson to head of people and human resources, placing her on the executive leadership team as the agtech company expands its global footprint.
Thompson, who joined the company in 2022, will oversee all aspects of HR strategy across Pivot Bio’s operations in the United States and Brazil. Her portfolio includes talent acquisition, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, and organizational culture.
“She has played an important role in shaping our workforce strategy, fostering a positive workplace culture and driving the engagement of our team,” said Chris Abbott, chief executive officer of Pivot Bio.
Thompson will report directly to Abbott and lead HR efforts for employees located across company hubs in California, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota.
Before taking on this new role, Thompson served as senior director of total rewards at Pivot Bio. She later added responsibility for talent acquisition, HR systems, and operations.
She began her career at Prudential, later spending more than a decade at consulting firm Willis Towers Watson. She also held senior HR roles at VWR/Avantor, where she was global vice president of total rewards and helped execute two initial public offerings.
Thompson holds an MBA from LaSalle University and a bachelor’s degree in education from Arcadia University. She serves on several nonprofit boards and remains active in the human resources community.
