Content management company Hyland has appointed Sharon Brand as chief human resources officer, bringing in a veteran HR executive with more than 20 years of experience building teams at technology companies.

Brand joins the Cleveland-based company from PlanSource, where she served as the benefits administration platform’s first chief people officer. She previously worked as a vice president and HR business partner at enterprise software giant SAP.

At Hyland, Brand will lead the company’s global HR strategy and work to build what the company describes as a high-performing, inclusive culture that supports its business objectives.

Leadership transition at growing company

The appointment comes as Hyland continues its expansion in the global content management market. The company provides content, process and application intelligence solutions to thousands of organizations worldwide, including many Fortune 100 companies.

“Sharon’s proven ability to drive organizational excellence through strategic talent development makes her exactly what Hyland needs as we accelerate our growth and innovation,” said Jitesh S. Ghai, CEO at Hyland.

Ghai highlighted Brand’s experience at software-as-a-service companies and her focus on employee engagement as key factors in the hiring decision.

Experience at major technology firms

Brand spent significant time at SAP, where she worked as a trusted advisor to senior executives and managed global people strategies. Her role involved leadership development and building inclusive workplace cultures across technology enterprises.

At PlanSource, Brand served as a strategic business partner to the CEO and board of directors while establishing the company’s first dedicated people operations function.

“I’m thrilled to join Hyland at such a pivotal moment in the company’s journey,” Brand said. “The opportunity to contribute to Hyland’s global expansion while introducing breakthrough innovations is incredibly exciting.”

Focus on team-driven culture

Brand expressed enthusiasm for building on what she described as Hyland’s team-driven culture, where employees can perform their best work and support the company’s position in content management.

Her appointment reflects Hyland’s focus on talent development as the company seeks to maintain its competitive position in the content management sector. The company markets itself as “the pioneer of The Content Innovation Cloud.”

The HR leadership change comes as many technology companies face ongoing challenges in attracting and retaining skilled workers in a competitive job market.
